Description: Tertiary endocrinology centre at which there is specialist care of patients with complex pituitary and adrenal disease, a one-stop radioactive iodine therapeutic service, thyroid eye disease treatment service, neuro-endocrine tumour specialist service, specialist multiple endocrine neoplasia clinics, specialist metabolic bone clinic, specialist endocrine ‘late-effects’ of cancer treatment service, specialist immunotherapy-induced endocrinopathy service and a specialist oncology diabetes service.
Research: There are ongoing clinical trials at the Christie Hospital which investigate new therapeutic options for endocrine diseases. Professor Trainer leads an active research portfolio in acromegaly and Cushing’s Syndrome. Dr Higham leads a MRC-funded research programme which is assessing bone toxicity after pelvic radiotherapy. Dr Adam is principal investigator on trials investigating thyroid and adrenal disease as well as maintaining a portfolio of studies obesity and metabolic effects of endocrine disease. Dr Dhage continues to maintain research into cardiovascular risk, clinical endocrinology and diabetes.
